The Astrea Forensics Library Prep Kit for Illumina provides a simple and efficient ligation-based single-stranded DNA library preparation method to produce sequencing libraries in about 4 hours. The kit can recover complete double-stranded DNA molecules, even when they contain nicks, plus single-stranded DNA molecules left inaccessible to most NGS prep kits. The protocol works without end-polishing and therefore retains the native (or sheared) termini of all input DNA molecules. The result of the Astrea Forensics Library Prep Kit is an Illumina-compatible sequencing library. The kit protocol allows users the option to retain a substantial population of molecules with small insert lengths, if desired, thereby providing researchers flexibility in studying the features of DNA molecules that are important to their research.
