Warren Kuchinsky Identified After 40 Years in New Hampshire Case

When a human skull was discovered in the woods near Bristol, New Hampshire in 1986, there was little investigators could do to identify the individual.

Decades later, advances in DNA technology made it possible to revisit the case. Astrea contributed whole genome sequencing and SNP profile generation, helping generate the genetic data needed for renewed analysis.

Using this data, the DNA Doe Project and its partners identified the man as Warren Kuchinsky, who had last been seen in the mid-1970s.

After nearly 40 years, a name replaced “Cranium Doe.”

While many details of his life remain unknown, his identity has been restored—demonstrating how even limited evidence can still lead to answers.
